Audit of taji.html ยท 2026-09-09 ยท answers "will it break the circuit at 19.5?"

It sheds, it never trips. Not airtight yet.

๐ŸŽฏ The 9388B cuts 8 loads before the 15-minute average can reach 18. That is the right tool. Three holes still let the meter print a 20.8. Close them and the guarantee is real.

Controlled loads over 18 impossible Tesla cap software only Uncontrolled floor, worst case ~21 kW Which loads on which meter unknown Jul 28 2026 20.8 kW unexplained

๐Ÿ”Œ Why "break the circuit at 19.5" is the wrong picture

15 min

SCE bills the 15-minute average, never an instant

  • An instantaneous 25 kW for 20 seconds is invisible on the bill.
  • The 9388B computes a sliding 15-min average every second and sheds while it is still climbing. A sliding window is never lower than SCE's block window.
  • The meter records in 1.6 kW steps: 19.2 is the last safe reading, 20.8 is over. 18 leaves 1.2 kW for CT error.
โœ•

A hard trip at 19.5 kW would be worse, not safer

  • Shunt-trip on the main = whole building dark mid-session every time three ACs and the sauna overlap.
  • The main panel is a Zinsco. No shunt-trip main exists for it; that is a panel replacement.
  • Shedding a thermostat call drops 4 kW in 2 seconds with nobody noticing. That is the "breaker."
0

Windows over 18 possible from what it controls

  • 7 ACs + sauna = 30 to 45 kW of sheddable load. It can always cut enough.
  • dC = 1 is the no-overshoot algorithm. Lock it.
  • Every hole below is a load it does not control.

๐Ÿ•ณ๏ธ The three holes

1

The Tesla is capped by a setting, not by a relay

  • Anyone with the sticker password resets the Wall Connector to 48 A in 3 minutes. A label is not enforcement.
  • 48 A = 11.5 kW the controller cannot touch. On an 18 kW budget that is game over by itself.
  • Every 2025 spike was this exact load. how.html already says the Tesla "becomes a controlled or breakered load"; taji.html never does it.
Fix60 A contactor on the Tesla circuit, wired as shed priority 1. No compressor timer, back on in a minute, keep the 12 A cap as well. 9388B has 8 relays, expandable to 16: add the expansion to the Brayden quote.
2

The uncontrolled floor can pass 18 with every AC already off

Load it cannot shedkW, worst case
LED video wall (49 cabinets)6 to 9
Live Room light rig2 to 4
Kitchen + fridges1.5 to 3
Console, gear, 4 rooms2.5 to 5
Tesla at the 12 A cap2.8
Everything at once15 to 24
  • Typical is 6 to 10 kW. A Saturday show with the wall, the rig and a full kitchen is the case that matters.
  • All numbers are estimates from the load inventory. Nothing here is measured yet.
  • The 16 kW Eyedro alert is an email. Emails do not shed anything.
FixEyedro runs 2 weeks before install day, not after. If the uncontrolled peak reads above ~13 kW, the LED wall circuits get a contactor as shed priority 2. Then the box can always reach 18.
3

Two meters, and nobody knows which panel feeds which

  • The demand problem lives on one SCE account. The CTs must sit on that service.
  • An AC or the Tesla fed from the other meter is a relay that sheds nothing the bill sees.
  • Jul 28 2026 hit 20.8 kW with the Tesla already limited. Cause unknown. If it was an uncontrolled load, the plan as written misses it again.
FixOn the quote visit the electrician maps all 9 loads to a meter, written down. Greg pulls Green Button for Jul 28 before the shed order is written (step 6).
