Get your own Vivint user from Jacob before your next solo open. Without one you cannot turn the alarm off.

On 10/7 at 00:50 Steven asked how to disable Vivint. Greg replied that Steven needs an account from Jacob or Ari, and left the alarm off that night. secondhand Source: TRC road digest 2026-10-07.

🚨 The alarm goes off

  1. Open the Vivint app and tap Disarm, or tap the red alarm circle. The app does not ask for your PIN.

  2. In the pop-up, tap Yes, just a false alarm. Monitoring will not call and no one is sent.

    Do this within about 30 seconds of the alarm.

  3. No app? Type your 4-digit user PIN on the panel to silence it.

  4. If the panel starts talking, it is Vivint monitoring. Give your full name and the verbal passcode, and say everything is OK.

    The verbal passcode is not your PIN. It is not on this page. Ask Jacob who holds it.

  5. Can't reach the panel or the app? Call Vivint at (800) 216-5232 and give the verbal passcode.

  6. Real break-in? Get out first. Tap No, please send authorities in the app, then call 911.

  7. Afterwards, text Jacob what happened and which door set it off.

☀️ Arrive and turn it off

  1. Before you open the door: in the Vivint app, tap the Armed state, then tap Disarmed.

  2. At the panel instead: type your user PIN within the entry delay, 30 seconds by default.

  1. Shut every door and window.

    The exit delay is 60 seconds by default. Everything must be shut when it runs out.

  2. In the app, tap Disarmed, then Arm Away. Or tap Arm Away on the panel.

  3. Check off Vivint → Armed, Away on the closing checklist. Take the photo if the checklist asks for one.

    Photo proof is off until 3 missed nights in a row, then it comes back for good.

⏸️ Leaving it off for a night

  1. There is no separate off switch. Off means disarmed.

  2. Leave it disarmed overnight only when Greg or Jacob says so in writing. Greg did this once, on the night of 10/6.

  3. A broken sensor keeps setting it off? An admin can bypass that one sensor in the app, then arm as usual.

    Three sensors have been broken since at least 8/31, and Taji owns the fix.

👤 Getting your own Vivint user

  1. Ask Jacob. An admin opens the Vivint app, taps the menu, then Users, then Add User.

  2. The admin types your name and a 4-digit PIN, and turns on mobile access. You get an invite by text or email.

  3. Accept the invite and install the Vivint app. Then try Disarm once while someone is with you.
